Houston CCS Alliance Hosts Community Tree Giveaway in Galena Park
The Houston CCS Alliance brought together community members from across Houston by providing free trees and information on carbon capture and storage at an event at Galena Park High School on Wednesday, November 14. In partnership with the Galena Park Rotary Club, Precinct 2, and Precinct2gether, the Alliance gave away more than 500 trees to residents, helping replace trees lost during the derecho in May and Hurricane Beryl in July.
Throughout the event, the Alliance team engaged with hundreds of Galena Park community members, helping them pick out trees that fit their home best and then loading their cars, while sharing information about CCS and the work the Alliance is doing across the Gulf Coast region. In addition to trees, the Alliance also distributed bilingual information and other items to attendees interested in learning more about the development of CCS technology in the Houston region.
Galena Park High School Principal Juan Ramirez also volunteered throughout the event, connecting with community members and loading trees. He expressed his support for the Alliance and an interest in learning more about the positive economic and environmental impacts CCS technology can have on Galena Park.
