Texas Congressional Delegation Signs Letter Asking EPA to Grant Texas Primacy
U.S. Congressmen Dan Crenshaw and August Pfluger led a bipartisan letter from Texas legislators to EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, emphasizing the importance of Texas securing Class VI well primacy and urging swift approval to advance carbon capture and storage (CCS) development.
Sixteen congressmen joined Crenshaw and Pfluger, including Lizzie Fletcher, Randy Weber, Craig Goldman, and Wesley Hunt, among others. The letter highlights the need to free Texas’ CCS development from EPA permitting delays, which can backlog projects for years.
With over 160 Class VI well applications under review nationwide and only eight finalized, streamlining this process is essential to advancing CCS technology and driving economic growth in the Lone Star State. Of the 160 applications, more than 30 are for projects right here in Texas. By securing primacy, the state can unlock billions in investment, create good-paying jobs, and position itself as a national leader in CCS technology and energy innovation. We appreciate our representatives advocating for the best interest of Texas’ economy and energy legacy.
